Just wanted to share this in case it helps anyone else going through the final stretch of their thesis or dissertation.
A few weeks before my submission deadline, I ran my thesis through Turnitin and got a much higher similarity score than I expected - a lot of it was from properly cited quotes and common technical phrases in my field, but some genuinely needed rewording. It was stressful because I didn't have time to manually go through every flagged section while also finishing my final chapters.
What actually helped was getting a proper plagiarism check and removal service to go through the report with me - not just running another scan, but actually explaining which flagged sections were genuine issues versus false positives (like standard terminology or correctly cited material that similarity checkers still flag). They helped me rework the problem sections without changing my actual arguments or findings, which was important to me since I didn't want anyone touching my actual research.
A couple of things I'd suggest if you're in a similar spot:

Don't panic at a high percentage alone - check what's actually flagged first, since citations and common phrases inflate the score unfairly

Give yourself buffer time before your deadline, this isn't a same-day fix if there's a lot to review
